Hagar Pleased With Destiny Motorsports Debut

PETERSEN MEDIA: Destiny Motorsports and Derek Hagar spent the weekend together racing with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions, and their first weekend together was highlighted by a 12th place finish on Friday night.

“I think it went pretty well for our first time out, but we for sure have some work to do to get better,” Hagar said.

Starting their weekend off on Friday night at the Fremont Speedway, Hagar timed the MonDak Portables/Benic Enterprises/Rick Rogers Construction No. 9w machine in 18th fastest.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Hagar battled with Caleb Griffiths for the top spot before he ultimately settled for a second place finish, transferring himself directly into the feature event.

Lining up for the 30-lap feature event in the ninth row, Hagar continued to acclimate himself to the Destiny Motorsports entry, as he slowly worked his way forward.

When the checkered flag waived on the race, the Marion, AR driver crossed the stripe with a 12th place finish.

“I just had to get used to the new car, and the track to be honest,” Hagar said. “For our first night out, everyone was pleased with how things went, and we were excited to get back to the track.”

Back at the Freemont Speedway on Saturday night, the track continued to slick off prior to Hagar’s qualifying run, and he would end up timing the Renegade Rentals/Triple X Race Components/Boss Signs and Graphics entry in 27th fastest, putting the Destiny Motorsports in a bit of a hole to start the night.

Finishing sixth from his seventh starting spot in the heat race, Hagar would need to transfer from the B Main event on this night.

Lining up in the 10th spot of the B, Hagar did everything he could to make headway, but couldn’t seem to make anything work, as his weekend came to an end with a ninth place finish in the B Main.

“The track blew off during time trials, and there wasn’t much left for us, and we missed the inversion,” he explained. “Racing wise we just seemed to struggle to make grip. We couldn’t make any forward drive, and we lacked some side bite, but everyone worked hard all night to get better. I have to thank the Destiny Motorsports team for this chance, and their hard work, and I am excited for the week ahead.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Renegade Rentals, Triple X Race Components, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rens Trucking, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, Tony Stewart Racing, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Kistler Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2014.
