Hagar Runs Fourth With The All Stars

PETERSEN MEDIA: Derek Hagar and the Destiny Motorsports team were in action with the World of Outlaw STP Sprint Cars and the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions over the last week, and their week was highlighted by a very strong run at the Brushcreek Motorsports Complex.

“I think we improved all week, though we really didn’t get the results we had hoped for until Saturday night,” Hagar said. “We were pretty good on Saturday night out of the box, and put a nice night together.”

With 24 cars in the house with the All Stars, Hagar timed the MonDak Portables/Rick Rogers Construction/Renegade Rentals No. 9w machine in third fastest, putting him in the second row of his heat race.

Moving up to a second place finish in heat race action, Hagar would earn a spot in the dash, and by way of the redraw, he found himself on the pole of the shootout.

Finishing in the second spot, Hagar would start on the front row of the feature event, and when the action came to life, the Marion, AR driver jumped into an early lead, before a caution slowed his pace.

With several cautions slowing the first half of the race, Hagar was great on each one, as he continually jumped out to sizeable leads, as the field chased after him. On the 18th lap, Hagar felt pressure from Dale Blaney, and would ultimately fall back to the second spot, as Blaney took command of the race.

With eight laps to go, Tim Kaeding would get around Hagar as he now ran in the third spot, as tried to fend off Lee Jacobs.

Jacobs and Hagar would battle for the third spot, but Jacobs was able to get the spot, with Hagar holding on to the fourth spot at the stripe.

“We were awesome early in the race,” he explained. “As the track started to go away and slick off, our car went away a bit, and I was not nearly as good as I was early. It was a nice night to end what had been a tough week.”

Friday night at the Eldora Speedway, Hagar timed in 24th fastest before finishing sixth in his heat race.

Lining up sixth in the LCS, Hagar slipped back to the eighth spot when the race got started, but worked his way back up to the fifth spot, just narrowly missing out on the transfer to the feature event.

Wednesday at the Terre Haute Action Track, Hagar and his Destiny Motorsports team timed in 21st fastest.

Finishing fifth in heat race action, Hagar would transfer to the 25-lap feature event, where he started in the 11th row.

On a track that was extremely fast, and tough to get racing on, Hagar was able to make some moves and pick up some positions, as he worked his way to a 16th place finish.

Tuesday night at the Kokomo Speedway was a tough night all around. Timing in 34th quickest, Hagar would finish ninth in his heat race, before a third place finish in the C main ended the teams night.

“We started off pretty bad at Kokomo, but the guys really worked hard all week to get us straightened out. We pulled down a different car before Terre Haute, and I think that helped us a lot. I really need to thank everyone at Destiny Motorsports for giving me a great opportunity over the last week, and hopefully we can put something else together before the season ends.”
