PETERSEN MEDIA: Winning the National Open in 2014, David Gravel was disappointed with his showing during the rain-shortened event that took place on Sunday night at the Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA after the scheduled three day event was cut short due to severe weather.

“Coming back to the National Open, I had hoped to run well again after winning the race in 2014, but it was not in the cards for us,” Gravel said. “We just could not get going and it made for a really long night.”

With 48 cars checked in for the prestigious event, Gravel timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine in 12th fastest in his flight, and under this format did not make the heat race inversion.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, the Watertown, CT driver battled with Brad Sweet for the third and final transfer spot in the A main, but Gravel would finish in the fourth spot, and find himself on the outside looking in.

Moving into the night’s Last Chance Showdown, Gravel could not get moving forward on the slicked off ½ mile and would end his National Open by finishing ninth in the Last Chance Showdown.

“It is frustrating and disappointing anytime you can’t get into a feature event, especially at a marquee event,” Gravel said. “What we do now is put this one behind us, and focus on this weekend and get Rick and Barb Rogers a great finish.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rod End Supply, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Destiny Motorsports and David Gravel will be at the Rolling Wheels Speedway on Saturday night.
