PETERSEN MEDIA: Running near the Destiny Motorsports shop on Friday night, David Gravel had a strong night with the World of Outlaws as he picked up his second consecutive fourth place finish as the series took to the Lawrenceburg Speedway.
“It was really a great night overall for this Desitny Motorsports team,” David Gravel said. “World of Outlaws Top-Fives are tough, and we were all pleased with how our night went.”
Timing the Destiny Motorsports/MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading No. 7 machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials, Gravel would race his way from his fourth starting position in his heat race to earn a second place finish.
By transferring into the feature event, Gravel also earned a position in the all important Dash, where he lined the Benic Enterprises/Rick Rogers Construction/Maxim Chassis entry up in the second row.
Struggling a bit in the six-lap shootout, Gravel would slip back to finish in the sixth spot, putting him in the third row for the 35-lap A main event.
Getting off to a nice start, Gravel would work his way up into the fifth spot as he chased after the likes of Christopher Bell, and Shane Stewart.
Moving into the fourth spot, Gravel would get by Bell to take over the third spot as he soon felt pressure from a surging Donny Schatz. On the 21st lap, Schatz was able to get around Gravel, but the Watertown, CT driver did not let him get away.
A few late restarts saw Gravel pressure for a spot in the top-three, but as the checkered flag flew, Gravel crossed under it with his second consecutive fourth place finish.
“It is great to get another strong finish as the season comes to a close,” Gravel added. “Our goal is to keep this strong of good finishes going so we can have some good momentum going into the offseason.”
