PETERSEN MEDIA: A long, grueling first season on the World of Outlaw trail comes to a head this weekend in Charlotte, NC for the World Finals and David Gravel and his Destiny Motorsports team are looking to match the success they had at the Dirt Track at Charlotte back over the Memorial Day Weekend.
“We are all really excited about this weekend and are looking forward to getting back to the Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World Finals to see what we can do after how well we ran back in May,” David Gravel said.
Back over the Memorial Day Weekend, Gravel and the Destiny Motorsports team performed very well as the Watertown, CT driver timed the MonDak Portables/Ft Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine in fifth fastest, and went toe-to-toe with Donny Schatz during the feature event as he finished in the second spot.
After some up and down nights, Gravel and company picked up a couple of Top-Five finishes during the month of October, and Gravel comes into the World Finals looking to give his car owners their first ever World of Outlaws victory.
“The World Finals is such a unique event, and it would be a cool race to win,” Gravel said. “Rick and Barb Rogers have given me a great opportunity and I would love to get them their first ever World of Outlaws victory this weekend.”
The World Finals kicks off on Thursday night where Gravel and the rest of the competitors will only take part in qualifications as they time in for both the Friday and Saturday night programs. Friday and Saturday it is all about racing as the season comes to a close.
