PETERSEN MEDIA: The Memorial Day weekend was tough on Paul McMahan and the Destiny Motorsports team. Friday night while running in the top-five, McMahan would cut a tire down, and on Monday while running in the Top-10 he would hook a rut and get his machine upside down.

“It was a tough weekend, but there was some positive that came out of it,” Paul McMahan said. “Both nights out we had a really good handle on our racecar, but a little bad luck took us out of what looked like two possible solid finishes.”

Friday night at the Charlotte Dirt Track, McMahan timed his MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine in sixth fastest in time trials, and a second place finish in his heat race would lock him into the night’s dash.

Lining up on the front row of the six-lap shootout, a third place effort would place the Nashville, TN resident in the second row of the 30-lap A Main event. Getting off to a great start on the slicked off speedway, McMahan’s night would drastically change when he would cut down a tire and bring his machine to a stop.

Going to the pit area to make repairs, McMahan would restart from the tail end of the field and work his way forward as he would fight back to finish 14th.

With Saturday and Sunday off, McMahan and company returned to action on Monday night at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN.

Timing the Rick Rogers Construction/Maxim Chassis/Boss Signs and Graphics entry in 14th fastest, McMahan would race his way from fourth to second in his heat race to earn a spot into the all-important dash.

Finishing fifth in the Dash, McMahan would start there in the feature event, and would get off to a nice start just as he did on Friday night. Running well inside the top-10, McMahan would hook a rut in turn one and the result would be his machine getting upside down, bringing his night to an early end.

“I hate it for my guys who have been working so, so hard all year long,” McMahan added. “We had some pretty bad struggles a few weeks back, and everyone on this team went to work to try and figure out how to get better, and I think it is starting to show. I can’t thank this team enough for all they do, and hopefully we can continue to make gains.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, FK Rod Ends, Walker Performance Filtration, KSE Racing Products, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their continued support.
