Knoxville Nationals On Tap For Paul McMahan and Destiny Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA: Fresh off of an eighth place showing at the Ironman 55 and a strong outing at the Capitani Classic at the Knoxville Raceway on Sunday night, Paul McMahan and his Destiny Motorsports team are looking forward to returning to the track for the Knoxville Nationals.

“We had a good run at the Ironman 55 on Saturday night, and we were all really pleased with the speed we had at the Capitani Classic, so we are itching to get back to the track this week,” Paul McMahan said.

Timing in seventh fastest on Saturday night in Pevely, MO, McMahan would finish second in his heat race and eighth in the Dash to place him in the fourth row for the 55-lap feature event.

Running in the sixth spot as things came to life, McMahan would find himself battling with the likes of Shane Stewart and Rico Abreu as he jockeyed for position inside the Top-Five.

Continuing to run in the sixth spot, a couple of late restarts would see McMahan shuffled back to the eighth spot where he would go on to finish.

Making the overnight tow to the Knoxville Raceway to compete in the Capitani Classic, McMahan would go out late in time trials and time the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Rick Rogers Construction No. 7 machine in 11th fastest in his group.

Winning his heat race going away, McMahan would move into the feature event where he would grid the field from the 13th starting spot. Getting out of shape when the race came to life, McMahan would be relegated to the back of the pack. Making a few laps, debris would get into the engine compartment and break a spark plug wire and McMahan would pull into the pit area and call it a night.

Traveling to the Front Row Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA on Monday night, issues during time trials would see McMahan time in 24th fastest.

Getting into the feature event via the ‘B’ Main, McMahan would call it an early night and pull back to his trailer early.

“We just had some issues put us behind the eighth ball on Monday night, but I am really looking forward to getting back to work with the package we are bringing into the Nationals,” McMahan added. “This team has been working so hard, and I really have to thank them and Rick and Barb Rogers for continuing to support us and give us what we need to grow.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft.
