Tough Trip to PA

PETERSEN MEDIA: In one of the toughest weekend swings of the season, Paul McMahan and the Destiny Motorsports team fought some struggles at Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway.

“We just had some struggles at some point in the night all three nights set us back,” Paul McMahan said. “At times we were okay, but other times we’d put ourselves in too big of a hole to climb out of.”

Kicking the week against he PA Posse off on Wednesday night at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA, McMahan timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Champion Brand Lubricants No. 4 machine in 20th fastest in his flight.

Struggling to get out of his heat race, the Nashville, TN driver would eventually get into the feature event by way of a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series provisional.

Lining up at the tail end of the field, McMahan would seem to have more speed in his machine though he was unable to get moving forward in bunches on a tough track. Though he kept a good pace for much of the race, McMahan would take the checkered flag in the 22nd spot.

Heading to Williams Grove on Friday night, another late draw would see McMahan end up 14th quickest in his qualifying flight, which placed him in the fourth row of his heat race.

Getting a good jump in his heat, McMahan would work his way up to the fifth and final transfer spot on the historic ½ mile facility, and put the All Star Performance/KSE Racing Products/FK Indy backed entry directly into the feature event.

Gridding the field from the 20th starting spot in the 25 lap feature event, McMahan would continue to race well as he was able to make up some ground in the course of the ‘A’. Battling with Jason Johnson, Dale Blaney, and Shane Stewart, McMahan would work his way up to 15th and the conclusion of the race.

Looking to better their result on Saturday night, McMahan and the Destiny Motorsports team would be back for another night of action which kicked off with the team timing in 26th fastest in qualifying time trials.

From the fourth row of his heat race, McMahan would again get another great start and surge into a transfer position as the race came to life. Fighting hard to hold on to the spot, McMahan would bobble in turn four coming to the checkered and it would cost him the spot and force him into the semi.
Things would continue to go south for McMahan and company in the semi as contact would cause terminal damage to the No. 4 machine and their night would come to an end.

“It was a tough weekend, but the guys continued to fight all weekend,” McMahan added. “Sunday ended up raining out, but we got off to a pretty good start by timing in eighth and getting through our heat before the weather. We know we have the tools and the speed, it just needs to all come together for us.”
