PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the trip West to meet up with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, Terry McCarl and Destiny Motorsports are excited to kick off the California swing this week following two-nights in Las Vegas, NV.

“Las Vegas, NV is a tough show year after year,” Terry McCarl said. “Lots of great teams were watching the feature, including us the first night. Thursday night I thought it would take rubber earlier than it did and ended up killing our tires early and I ultimately pulled off.”

Making his first appearance with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series on Wednesday night in Las Vegas, NV, McCarl would time the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/SnowPlow.com backed No. 4 machine in 16th fastest in qualifications.

Finishing eighth in his heat race, the Altoona, IA pilot would be forced into a loaded Last Chance Showdown where he would grid the field from the 11th starting position with only four transfer positions into the feature event up for grabs.

On a slick racing surface, McCarl would continue to shake off some rust in what was his first 410ci start of the season. Unable to make the transfer, TMAC would end his night with a 10th place finish in the LCS.

Looking to end his week on a better note, McCarl would get Thursday night started off by timing the Bosma Poultry/STC/T.W. Vance Trucking machine in eighth quickest in his time trial group on this night.

By way of his qualifying effort, McCarl would line up in the second row of his heat race and race his way to a fourth place finish and punch his ticket into the 30-lap feature event.

On a surface that was slick during the night, McCarl figured rubber would go down early in the 30-lap affair on this night. From his 16th starting position, he would go hard in the opening laps trying to make up ground before rubber went down but the rubber would hold off much longer than he anticipated.

Opting to push limits early in the race, McCarl would abuse his tires and be forced to pull into the infield on the ninth lap and bring his Vegas trip to a debut.

“It was tough, but I am really looking forward to catching up with friends and racing out in California,” McCarl added. “I know they have been getting a ton of rain, but I am hopefully we can get all these races in. Thanks to Rick and Barb Rogers, and everyone that supports our race team.”
